Do SIC codes have any impact on tax or accounting treatment?
How easy are they to change?
Comment by Jonathan Moyle posted on
Hi Brian,
You can change your SIC code when you file your company's confirmation statement - https://www.gov.uk/file-your-confirmation-statement-with-companies-house
We cannot advise on the tax implications for your company. You would need to seek assistance from HMRC (https://www.gov.uk/contact-hmrc) or a tax specialist.

Hi Paul.
If you need to choose a SIC code, you can find your trade description or nature of business by using this guidance.
If you have already chosen a code, and want to view it, you can use our online service to search for your company. The SIC code appears under Nature of Business (SIC) under the Overview tab. If you need to change your SIC code, you can do this when you file your next confirmation statement.
